first day of school clothes

somehow i forgot to post the kiddos first day of school outfits, so here they are.

For my son's clothing I used the Oliver + S raglan shirt, size 5 and added cuffs, and for his pants i used the new Jasper Joggers from Gracious Threads in size 5.

my daughter on the left is also wearing an oliver + s raglan, made into short sleeves, size 10, and some of made-by-rae's parsley pants converted into shorts with some sweet bias tape edged pockets.

my other two daughters are wearing the big joey dress from make it perfect, size 10. i didn't hem the bottom of either dress, just serged them as i found them to be *just* long enough and the next ones i'll add length.  the woodland and the butterfly knits are from joann fabrics. this is the first time i have purchased knit from joann's and found them to be decent. the horse fabric is from fabric fairy.

silly faces.

kcw: toddler pants for fall

my cloth diaper wearing toddler needed some pants so it was bbb pants to the rescue!

first up, some flannel horse pants.  this boy loves horses!

next, camo pants to match big brother.

lastly, i upcycled some llbean flannel lined jeans and reused the hem for that genuine jeans feel.

phew, it's tough being this cute!

kcw: fall pajamas

why did i wait so long to make wool pajamas?!  so soft, so cute and so warm!

i used peekaboo pattern's alex and anna winter pajama pattern 2T.

I like everything about the fit and sewing it was easy, except i kind of botched the neckline.  it's a very thin neckband and i was going a bit too fast with the serger, but it's all good.

i used interlock wool from nature's fabric.  it's natural color organic merino wool. so delightful!  i used light grey thread from my serger so unfortunately the seams show more than i would like, lesson learned.
I wash them with sheepish grins wool wash soap and hang them to dry.  i also tried the handwash cycle on my washing machine after a large spill of hot cocoa down the front of himself and that worked well. i didn't notice any fabric shrinking.  the next pair will be in this navy wool!

also, note to self, do not let almost 2 year old play outside in wool longies right before wanting to photograph.  oh well, if i knew how to hashtag, it'd be #reallife.

kcw: fall edition

the theme for this week is disguise and hopefully i'll get to a little costume stitching, but first priority is filling in the wardrobe gaps for some of my kiddos.
fall is in full swing here in the northeast so my baby needed a cool weather cap.

i used the newsboy pattern from Butterfly Tree Patterns.  i've done up this pattern a number of times and love how professional it looks every time, it's reversible too!

this side is a mid weight wool plaid and the other side is a light weight red plaid flannel....which i didn't get a pic of....
the wool is decently soft but he'll probably just wear it this way.

i love how it can be worn two ways too, pinched up for the newsie look, or pulled down to cover those little ears! i sewed up a child's large because he measured at the top end of the medium size, and i wanted to be safe, cause there's nothing like spending 4 hours sewing something that's too small. haha.

this is him wanting more running down the hill!

love this face.
oh, there's that red flannel peeking out from under the brim :)

project one checked off the list, now on to cool weather jammies!
